Closed-loop life support
A life-support system for people in space or on another world that recycles air, water and food waste so that resupply from Earth is a small fraction of the crew's consumption.
Scope
In: recovery of water and oxygen, waste processing, and bioregenerative food production for a crew. Out: launch to orbit (space/low-cost-access-to-orbit), radiation shielding and the power plant. The headline metric, a closure fraction of mass flows, is not yet in taxonomy/metrics.toml, so the technology stays proposed.
